SoundBoard Academy
Cohort 2 Launching January 2027!
Our small cohort of participants participate in a series of educational sessions featuring professionals from across the business side of the music industry. These sessions provide participants with direct access to experienced industry leaders who share real-world insights, practical advice, and honest perspectives about building a career in music. Participants have opportunities to engage in live Q&A discussions, gain exposure to different career pathways, and begin building a broader understanding of how the industry ecosystem works.
Throughout the program, mental health and wellness are woven into the curriculum, acknowledging the unique pressures that often come with pursuing a career in music. Sessions will incorporate conversations around resilience, balance, and creative wellbeing, ensuring participants feel supported both professionally and personally.
By the end of SoundBoard Academy, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the industry, meaningful connections to professionals in the field, and the tools needed to pursue sustainable, long-term careers in music.

SoundBoard Academy completely expanded my perspective on the music industry. As someone just starting out, stepping into a cohort with peers who already had industry experience was intimidating at first, but it quickly became an incredibly empowering space. The weekly sessions introduced me to so many unique sides of the business—from learning about nonprofits like Backline to to exploring artist management—and helped me see how every piece connects back to my true passion in venue operations and live music. The final project gave me the freedom to lean into my creative strengths in strategy and visual identity while challenging me to tackle brand-new industry concepts. SoundBoard Academy proved to me that starting early is a strength, and it gave me both the confidence and the real-world insight I need to pursue my future in the music industry.

My experience with Soundboard has been amazing! Getting to hear from working professionals across the music industry every week gave me insight I could not have gotten from a classroom alone. I was able to get current perspectives on how the industry actually operates. What really set the program apart from my other experiences was the final presentation, where we applied everything we learned to build a mock artist campaign. It pushed me to think strategically and creatively, and gave me a genuine sense of what it is like to work on an artist’s career. Soundboard did not just teach me about the music industry, it gave me the tools and confidence to see myself working in it!
